A1 to B2: How Long Is It to Learn German?
One of the most common questions the learners of the German language ask during their studies relates to how long the German learning process would take. In fact, the response to this query may differ depending on many various factors, yet there are general patterns that fit most students’ experiences. Thus, achieving A1 level typically requires six to eight weeks of constant classes, while getting to B1 may take six to eight months of hard work. In turn, the majority of students need about a year of incessant studying to reach level B2 from scratch.
This estimate considers only the required weekly hours of classes; individual progress may vary depending on how seriously one approaches the process. Attending the classes with your classmates actively and outside of them, for example, by reading German books or newspapers and practicing grammar, can bring better results and help achieve the desired level faster than trying to endure the tedious classes.
